Selma Manizade
Selma Manizade is a native Annapolitan. She received her BFA in Communication Arts & Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. This led to a career in graphic design in Chicago, Washington D.C., and Istanbul including corporate design and freelance work. After her return to her hometown, she discovered fused glass and fell in love with the tactile experience. Starting with float glass and glass powders and then expanding to 90F coefficient glass and dichroic glass jewelry. She participated in numerous festivals such as Takoma Park Arts Festival, Turkish Festival in DC, Quiet Waters Park Art Festival, Oktoberfest, and the Annapolis Arts Alliance. She later became a studio artist at the Washington Glass School which allowed her to work larger and her focus shifted to wall pieces. She achieved her dream to have her own home studio when she built her house. Most recently she participated in a group glass show at Wimsey Cove Art & Framing and is a guest artist at Gallery 57 West.
