Karen DeGraffenreid
Karen discovered watercolors in an art class after retiring as an educator. She began to be inspired by nature and interesting things around her. She always had an eye for color and realized that she could create interesting images on paper. She usually takes several photos of the subject from different angles and then turns it into a sketch on her watercolor paper. Each picture she sketches has a special meaning for her. Many are taken from photos taken during her travels in the U.S. and abroad.
She has shown her artwork through the Anne Arundel Arts Council and the Annapolis Watercolor Club. Her golden rule is not to get so busy in daily life that she stops painting. She leaves her art supplies out all the time so that she can paint even when time is limited.
